NetGalley REVIEW - Virtual Tour - Drakon’s Plunder (Blood of the Drakon, #3) by N.J. Walters

Drakon’s Plunder
Blood of the Drakon, #3
by N.J. Walters
Publication Date: July 3rd 2017
Publisher: Entangled: Select Otherworld
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . DRAKON’S PLUNDER (Blood of the Drakon, #3) . . . Ezra. Ezra. Ezra. This time around Ezra gets his mate. He gets to be the one that goes all protective, alpha, he-man, or he-drakon. Up to this point he was more of the strong silent type. There has been something about Ezra through the other books that drew me to him. Now, I have him and his story.

Here we have yet another four-thousand-year-old dragon that has had limited outside contact. But there was just something that he could not deny in the frail, wet, beauty that he plucked from the waters, Sam. Sam has her own mission and that was one of revenge. She wanted to make those that killed her mentor pay. She just did not expect it may cost her, her life in the process.

When Ezra and Sam finally have that face-to-face, her concise and all, sparks fly. Ezra was aware of what was happening. Poor Sam was not sure but felt the pull all the same.

With each new addition to the series I fall more in love with the Blood of the Drakon. I am a bit sadden that there is only one brother left yet to go. I suggest you begin at the beginning and work your way to this point. It’s not required to understand this read but it will help you with some of the small glimpses you get throughout.

Blood of the Drakon series:
Drakon’s Promise – Blood of the Drakon, #1
Drakon’s Prey – Blood of the Drakon, #2
Drakon’s Plunder – Blood of the Drakon, #3

BLURB

Life is not going well for archaeologist Sam Bellamy. She’s stuck in the middle of the ocean on a salvage boat with people who want her dead. It wasn’t her gift for being able to sense objects of power that got her here, rather her need to make a secret society called the Knights of the Dragon pay for killing her mentor. Sam doesn’t believe in dragons, but the Knights do, and if she can get one of the sacred artifacts they’re searching for away from them, she’ll consider it payback.

Ezra Easton is content to run his marine salvage company and live alone on his private island. He may be a four-thousand-year-old water drakon, but he’s civilized enough to know just because he pulls an injured woman from the ocean, doesn’t mean he gets to keep her…

When she wakes up, she has a few tall tales to share, and it seems the Knights are after her. But this drakon won’t give up his treasure.

EXCERPT
“You have no idea who is looking for me.” She shoved the blanket aside and sat up. It was time to get dressed, if she still had any clothes, and get out of here. “These people are dangerous and will stop at nothing to find me. If they don’t find a body at the wreck—” She broke off before she said too much.
“So you were in a wreck. I wondered why you were alone in the dinghy. And who is after you?” He stood, looming like a large, avenging angel over her. “You can trust me to protect you.”
“You might be willing to risk yourself, but I’m not. I need to leave. Where are my clothes?”
As though she hadn’t spoken, Ezra continued. “You must be thirsty. Hungry, too. I’m starving. How about I make some bacon and eggs? Maybe some pancakes and toast.” He left her standing there and padded barefoot into the kitchen. Why did she find it so sexy that he was barefoot?
She was obviously not thinking straight, otherwise she wouldn’t notice the way his long hair brushed his shoulders or the way the soft denim cupped his behind as he walked away. Her toes curled against the rug.
She snatched up the throw blanket, wrapped it around her, and hurried after him. “Didn’t you hear anything I just told you? It’s not safe for you if I’m here. The people looking for me will kill you.”
Ezra pulled a carton of eggs, butter, and a package of bacon out of the refrigerator and set them on the counter. He added a box of pancake mix and a bowl to his collection before getting several large skillets out of the cupboard.
“Did you hear me?” she demanded. “They’ll kill you.”
Ezra propped his hands on his hips and faced her. “Not if I kill them first.”

EXCERPT  Roping the Ranger by Sarah M. Anderson
Helena was a large city by Montana standards, but this wasn’t match.com. By the time he had narrowed his search down, he really only had about twenty-five potential candidates. Which made it sound like he was interviewing them for a job and he wasn’t. Hell, he didn’t even know if he was going to do anything once he got done staring at photos of older women online. Nothing, probably. Just a weird…well, it wasn’t even a fantasy. Not a real one. Just a…thing. A quirk. Like he’d told Carlene earlier, just another wild Saturday night.
He was halfway down the list—and had tipped his hat, as the site called liking someone, a few times—when he saw her. At least, he thought it was her. The name said Carly Hughes, not Carlene. But that photo? It had to be Carlene—his Carlene, the waitress who’d taken care of him nearly every Saturday night for the last five and a half months. In the photo, her blonde hair wasn’t pulled back into the tight twist that she almost always wore at the restaurant. It was loose and hung in big waves almost to her shoulders. Instead of the professional button-up shirt, she wore a tight T-shirt—long sleeved, but cut low in the front. The shirt was turquoise and it made her blue eyes pop in a way that the dim interior lighting of the restaurant never could.
She was smiling at the camera. That was what convinced him it was the same woman. Because he’d been watching that smile for months now. He got that smile every time he asked how she was doing, if she’d had a good night, or if her team had won. Carlene was Carly Hughes. His fantasy just got a lot more specific. And, according to her profile, she was available. She was divorced—was Hughes her maiden name or her married name? It said she was an assistant manager at a restaurant, which was news to him. He’d thought she was a waitress, not one of the managerial staff. But that would explain why she was always dressed like a businesswoman instead of a server. Wait. She was an assistant manager, so why the hell did she always wait on his table? That didn’t make any sense. Unless… Tommy hadn’t put his picture on his profile—again, he didn’t really belong on the website, and he didn’t want to get called out for it. So he had no idea if she would know it was him or not. She knew his name—his first name, anyway.
He assumed that she was passingly familiar with his last name, as he paid with his credit card at least half the time. Did he want her to recognize him? There was no law that he had to keep going back to Peachtree’s, right? He clicked the hat-tip button. The site gave him an option also sending a message. He sighed and stared at her face in the picture again. Well, hell. If he was going to do this, he was going to be all in. He clicked in the message box and began to type.
Does this count as something different?

NetGalley REVIEW - Virtual Tour - Only a Viscount Will Do (To Marry a Rogue, #3) by Tamara Gill

Only a Viscount Will Do
To Marry a Rogue, #3
by Tamara Gill
Publication Date: May 22nd 2017
Publisher: Entangled: Select
Genres: Adult, Historical Romance

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . ONLY A VISCOUNT WILL DO (To Marry a Rogue, #3) . . . I fell in love. Alice was more than a lady. She had heart. She was adventurous, sassy, beautiful and don’t get on her bad side. Something that the Surrey Bandit did and in the process, he met his match. Lady Alice was not the typical lady of her time. She was so much more. She was a very active participant in her world, lady like or not. I found that at times she may have played a little too close to the flame. She may or may not have be ready to be burned but the heat that arose was something to see. Callum was not expecting to be found out let alone by the one woman that he could see more with.

I love reading and watching strong leading ladies take their place and own it. Alice was no exceptions. I had to admit that there were a few things that felt out of place, but for me in no way hindered the progress of the read. Tamara Gill puts her own spin on the historical romances that she set forth. There’s a touch of predictability but watching it all unfold was what makes the read enjoyable. If everything was precise why would we call it fictional reading. I loved this one. I loved Alice.

To Marry a Rogue series:
Only an Earl Will Do – To Marry a Rogue, #1
Only a Duke Will Do – To Marry a Rogue, #2
Only a Viscount Will Do – To Marry a Rogue, #3

BLURB
Lady Alice Worthingham never conforms to Society’s norms. Ever. She loves adventure, new experiences, and approaches life with a sassy attitude Society can take or leave. But even for her, robbery by a highwayman is a bit much.
Lord Arndel, Lady Alice’s neighbor, is playing a dangerous game—acting the proper viscount by day and the Surrey Bandit by night. And to brazenly steal from the woman who’s captured his attention is no mean feat, or the wisest of moves.

When Lady Alice learns the truth, the viscount finds that when a well-bred woman seeks revenge, she’ll make a gentleman thief pay for his crimes with everything…including his heart.

“A shame that a woman like you will enter a marriage of convenience. Such delectable flesh should be loved a great deal and pleasurably so.” His hand clasped her shoulder and pushed her against the multitude of parcels tied to the back of the carriage. He leaned in closer than she’d ever allowed a man to do. “It’s been a long time since I’ve had a woman like you under me. Oh how I’d love to partake in mutual pleasure that would ruin you for anyone else.”
Alice swallowed, hating the fact that deep down, her body was reacting to his absurd, scandalous words. She shouldn’t allow him to say such things. She should knock him in the head, but at this moment she didn’t have anything to do the job with, so it was a moot point.
“How do you know me, sir?” she managed to ask, her breath stuck in her lungs, her nerves frayed by the thought of this man atop her, pleasuring her as his words promised.

NetGalley REVIEW - Virtual Tour - Drakon’s Prey (Blood of the Drakon, #2) by N.J. Walters

Drakon’s Prey
Blood of the Drakon, #2
by N.J. Walters
Publication Date: April 24th 2017
Publisher: Entangled: Select Otherworld
Genres: Adult, , Paranormal, Romance
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . DRAKON’S PREY (Blood of the Drakon, #2) . . . I love me some dragons, period. No matter good, bad, neutral. I got acquainted with this series with the first book, Drakon’s Blood, last year. I got pulled in and surrounded by the richness of the world that was created. I stayed and enjoyed the romance of the half-breed, Darius, and his Sarah.  I knew that that another would be coming. I knew that I would fall in love with the characters chosen.  I got myself to Tarrant and Valeriya.

Leading us to her involvement in all of this makes for a good read. She has step in to the wrong/right territory. For the right reasons and my just get something much better than she ever dreamed as a reward. She was being tracked or hunted. Not quite sure how I want to classify this one.

There was hot sex. A hunt or two. A kidnapping. A supposed rescue. A seduction. Limited action. Limited depth. The world carries in from the first book. I personally would say read book one before reading book two. Things carry over and provide connection between the two. It also allows for you to see the steps toward growth.

I’m looking forward to book three.

Blood of the Drakon series:
Drakon’s Blood – Blood of the Drakon, #1

Drakon’s Prey – Blood of the Drakon, #2

BLURB
Valeriya Azarov turned her back on the family business to write and illustrate children’s books. But with a sister who leads the Knights of the Dragon, it’s impossible to get away from the secret society whose mission is to destroy and enslave dragons. When information falls into her hands along with the opportunity to save at least one of the ancient creatures, she can’t turn away any longer.

When a woman moves into the cabin above Tarrant Cooper’s secret underground lair, he’s both suspicious and intrigued. He hasn’t lasted four thousand years being careless, so when he suspects her of being a part of the Knights, the plan is to kidnap her and find out how much the organization knows about him and his brothers.

He’s drawn to Valeriya, but trusting her could get him killed. Even if she’s a pawn in the war between drakons and Knights, giving her his heart would mean forever.

“What’s your name?” she suddenly demanded. She’d kissed him and didn’t even know his name.
He opened the refrigerator door and pulled out several packages.
“Hey.” She knew it was crazy to demand anything from this man, but she was past all caution. “I asked you a question.”
“And if I answer it, you’ll never be able to leave here.” The way he said it, with little inflection, stopped her in her tracks.
It was a variation of “If I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.” It was used in the movies all the time, but Valeriya didn’t think this man was joking. “We both know I’m never getting out of here anyway, so why don’t you tell me who you are?” Maybe if she befriended him, she could get him to release her.
And then where would she go? The Knights were everywhere.
She swayed as her knees went weak. All she’d wanted to do was warn Darius Varkas about the Knights and go back home to her life. Now she feared she was truly going to die.
“What the hell?” Her captor was around the counter and caught her before she hit the floor. He scooped her up as though she weighed nothing and set her on one of the stools on the far side of the island. “Are you all right?” He hovered beside her but was no longer touching her.
It was as though he was afraid to touch her. She wasn’t sure if that was for her benefit or for his. She should be trying to figure out a way to escape, fighting the growing attraction she had for her captor. She wasn’t a guest here, but an unwilling visitor.
Unfortunately, it didn’t quite feel that way. It suddenly occurred to her that her intuition was silent. Yes, he was a very dangerous man, no doubt about it, but she didn’t feel as though he was a danger to her.
Her gift had chosen a really bad time to go haywire.
“What does it matter, if you’re going to kill me?” She’d rather get it over with than to drag it out indefinitely. And she really didn’t want to be tortured.
He swore, long and fluently, and in a language she didn’t understand. Did that mean he wasn’t American, or did he simply know other languages?
“Tarrant. My name is Tarrant. And I told you I wasn’t going to kill you.”
She rested her elbows on the counter to steady herself. “For now. You said you weren’t going to kill me right now.”
He swore again. “No one is killing anyone.

NetGalley REVIEW - Virtual Tor - The Devil’s Submission (The Fallen, #2) by Nicola Davidson

The Devil’s Submission
The Fallen, #2
by Nicola Davidson
Publication Date: February 6th 2017
Publisher: Entangled: Scorched
Genres: Adult, Erotic, Historical Romance, Standalone

From The Book Junkie Reads . . . The Devil’s Submission (The Fallen, #2) . . .

Naughty fun, scorching heat, reckless abandon, with a sprinkle of submission and delightful games. Erotic intoxication of historic proportions. Lord and Lady Devaraux both have desires unfulfilled and need that special hand to get them both going. Lady Deveruax (Eliza) loves her man and cannot understand where things went wrong for them. They love was more than just a convenient match. Or so she thought. Then life brings her back into close proximity of her wayward husband. Things begin to heat up and take on a new meaning all together.

Not understanding much of the world around him. Lord Deveraux longed for that something that would give him the peace and pleasure with pain he so desired/craved/needed. Getting that chance with his wife and having all the walls come crashing down opened a door to something he never dreamed of.

This one got on my top list basically because this time it was a man that craved that forbidden. It was a woman that wanted to give that ultimate pleasure. The give and take of the two together made their reunion that much more intense, special, memorable. It may have been a short novella but it most certainly packed a deliciously decadent punch.

The Fallen series:
Surrender to Sin - The Fallen, #1
The Devil's Submission - The Fallen, #2
BLURB
Disinherited by his parents and estranged from his wife, Fallen pleasure club co-owner Lord Grayson ‘Devil’ Deveraux long ago learned to place his trust in ledgers rather than people. But his ice-cold reserve hides the scandalous truth: he’s a man who craves pain with his pleasure, and a loving lady to instruct him.

Banished to the country when her whirlwind marriage collapsed, Lady Eliza Deveraux never knew why Grayson fell out of love with her: she’d tried so damned hard to quell her fiery self and be a proper, obedient wife. But when Eliza is forced to return to London and back into Grayson’s intoxicating world, banked passions reignite. Can a marriage built on secrets and pretense truly get a second chance?

EXCERPT
Before he could escape, Eliza’s slim fingers encircled his wrist. “Grayson. What is wrong?”
Devil started to reply with something false, something polite. But he was so goddamned weary of false and polite. “That nightgown is too small.”
Her face fell. “I-I know. Mother says I’m too big, that if I just lost some weight…”
“Why the hell would you want to do that? Damnation, Eliza, it’s not your weight, it’s your fucking perfect breasts straining against the fabric. I was hard all night looking at that little bow, thinking how easy it would be to undo so I could take one of your nipples into my mouth and suck it until it was so swollen, so sensitive, you screamed.”
Eliza’s eyes widened, her cheeks pink. “Why…why didn’t you?”
Because I want you to tell me to. To order me to pleasure you, like that time in your parents’ garden maze. One of the few nights I felt free…
“You were asleep,” he said eventually, looking away and feeling like a damned idiot. Sin and Vice, not to mention most other men in his acquaintance would laugh themselves catatonic if they knew about this need in him. God knew Reyburn had tried to beat the softness and weakness out after it had fully manifested in his last year at Eton, even requesting the masters never spare the cane. His younger son finding pleasure in pain was definitely a result the marquess neither expected nor wanted.
Warm lips brushed his cheek, and Devil jolted in surprise. Eliza’s face was almost crimson now, but her gaze was defiant. Would she dare?
A moment later she sank down onto his lap, cupped his cheek in her free hand and kissed him squarely on the mouth. It was a swift kiss, a chaste one, yet heat scorched a path from his lips to his cock.
“Grayson,” she whispered, her soft lips brushing his ear. “Kiss me back.”
With a guttural groan he pulled her close and captured her mouth with his. She whimpered, but she wasn’t pulling away or flinching at his need. She was holding on and rubbing her breasts against his chest.
“Eliza,” he said hoarsely, when he couldn’t quite catch his breath.
“Do it.” She tugged on the bow of her nightgown so hard it tore and revealed the curves of her plump breasts. “Do what you said you wanted to last night.”
Transfixed, he lowered his head toward the bounty in front of him. “Your wish is my command.”
