NetGalley REVIEW - Virtual Tour - CRAZY FOR YOU (Risking It All, #2) by Rachel Lacey

CRAZY FOR YOU
Risking It All, #2
by Rachel Lacey
On Sale: March 28th 2017
Publisher: Forever

The second book in Rachel Lacey's irresistible contemporary romance series about three foster brothers who return to their hometown to open an extreme sports business, perfect for fans of Kristan Higgins, Rachel Gibson, and Jill Shalvis!
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of. . .Crazy for You (Risking It All, #2) . . . Run to You got me started with this series and I was excited to get to Crazy For You. Ryan’s bad boy, tattoos, and motorcycle made him the wrong guy for good girl Emma. But this good girl had decided to go a little wild. She wants Ryan to show her how to let go and have a good time. Life ends sometimes on a dare, but for Emma life only opened up for her and showed her what she was missing when she was dared to do the unimaginable for her good girl persona.

Good girl, Emma, and bad boy, Ryan, cliché I know, makes for an entertaining read in love, honor, respect, friendship. Emma and Ryan both need to learn to live outside the shell they have both been in. It takes the other to move them in to action. Living life can be that much sweeter when you decide to open-up and live for yourself.

I think some more details could have taken this one over the top for me. I loved being back in Haven. It was great seeing the small-town vibe was still alive and kicking. The build of their rekindled friendship and lovers’ relationship was just what the other needed to live again.

BLURB
SHE'S TAKING A WALK ON HIS WILD SIDE

Emma Rush can't remember a time when she didn't have a thing for Ryan Blake. Haven's resident bad boy is just so freakin' hot-with tattoos, a motorcycle, and enough rough-around-the-edges sexiness to melt all her self-control. Now that Emma's over being a "good girl," she needs a little help being naughty . . . and she knows just where to start.

Before Emma's brother enlisted in the military, he made Ryan promise that he would protect her from everything--including himself. When her brother doesn't come home, Ryan needs to turn his screwed-up life around to honor his pledge. But he knows he's still not the right kind of guy for someone as sweet as Emma. Only he can't stop wanting to be with her. Wanting her. Falling in love with a good girl may be the craziest risk this bad boy can take . . .

Whoa. Emma closed her eyes and let out a shriek as Ryan guided the motorcycle onto Main Street and picked up speed. The cold wind whipped her face, taking her breath away. Beneath her, the engine rumbled and roared like a wild thing. Holy sh*t. She was on the back of Ryan Blake’s bike, and it was amazing.
The wind bit through her thin, knit gloves, hitting her fingers with an icy blast. Actually, every part of her was freezing, but she didn’t care. She wrapped her arms more firmly around Ryan’s waist, anchoring herself to him so she didn’t tumble off the back of the bike, and somehow her hands slipped beneath his jacket. Ahh. That was better. Toasty warm, and also…her hands were on his T-shirt. Even through her gloves, she felt the hard contour of his abs, and nope, she wasn’t cold now.
And this was absolutely freaking amazing.
She hung on tight as he guided them over Haven’s twisting mountain roads, deserted at this hour. Overhead the moon shone like a beacon, illuminating the night in its soft, silvery glow. The roar of the engine and the slap of the wind against her face shocked her senses. It was thrilling, invigorating, so completely different from riding inside a car.
She’d never have done this if Mandy hadn’t dared her, and now she felt like her eyes were open for the first time in years. This was what she needed. Somewhere along the way, as she sat at the bar talking to Ryan, she’d realized she was having fun, really having fun. And she wanted more. She wanted it all, every last wild and crazy fantasy.
All too soon, her building came into view. Ryan cut the engine and guided them quietly into the driveway, coming to a stop behind her silver Toyota RAV4. He turned his head to look at her, so sexy in his helmet and riding glasses. “So how was it?”
“Even better than I thought it would be.” She gulped for air. His lips were way too close to hers, and she was still a little bit drunk on beer and a whole lot drunk on her first motorcycle ride. Mandy’s words echoed in her ears. Bonus points if you kiss him. Just stand up a bit, lean over his shoulder, and…
Emma leaned forward, her chest sliding up his back as she tipped her face to his. Holy hell, she had completely lost her mind, but she was going for it. Every nerve in her body went haywire.

Clunk. Her helmet smacked into his, drawing her up an inch short of his lips.

Rachel Lacey is a contemporary romance author and semi-reformed travel junkie. She's been climbed by a monkey on a mountain in Japan, gone scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, and camped out overnight in New York City for a chance to be an extra in a movie. These days, the majority of her adventures take place on the pages of the books she writes. She lives in warm and sunny North Carolina with her husband, son, and a variety of rescue pets.

Q&A with Rachel Lacey
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
I loved writing all the fun, adventurous things Ryan and Emma did together in CRAZY FOR YOU – rock climbing, cliff jumping, motorcycle rides, etc. They were so much fun to write, and it was the perfect balance to some of the heavier themes in the book. These two characters really bring out the best in each other, constantly pushing each other out of their comfort zones.

If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Dream On by Aerosmith – “Dream until your dreams come true!”

Name one thing you won’t leave home without.
Chapstick! I have a weird obsession with it.

A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
Contemporary Romance Author. Wife. Mother. Animal Lover & Rescue Advocate. Hufflepuff. Powered by wine, chocolate, and books!

If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
First, JK Rowling because she is a literary genius and a fierce feminist, and I’d love to chat with her about anything and everything. Next, Mary Higgins Clark because she was my very first “favorite author,” and I’d love to thank her for that. And of course Nora Roberts because she is my hero and gives great advice. All three of these ladies have inspired me so much, and I would love to just soak up all the knowledge they could impart.

What are your favorite types of stories to read?

My favorite books make me laugh *and* cry. I want ALL THE FEELS while I’m reading!

A second chance for romance...

From The Book Junkie Reads . . . Starlight Bridge (Harmony Harbor, #2) . . .

Life has been difficult for Ava for a long time now. The past has a way of coming back and making itself known. Destroying the past and hampering her future. Life has been difficult for her since that day all those years ago. The one person she should have been able to confined in. She left him to make assumptions. Griffin Gallagher was the man of her heart for so many years and one night took all that away from her. Now, he has come back home and this time he’s not willing to just walk away so easily.

Graystone Manor has lots of secrets that it holds, hides, keep, and will eventually reveal. Now, it  Ava and Griffin that will have to stand the test of the secrets held so close for so long. I loved Ava from book one. I was getting a better handle on Griffin with book one and his appearance in book one point five. To have them both here together and seeing what started it all and how they worked around, through, and with it was beautiful. I felt a deep connection with Ava and her pain of the past. I hurt with her and grieved with her.

There are many more secrets that Graystone Manor holds and I can’t wait to see them and what else they reveal. There’s a deep romance with the beauty of the manor and the possibilities that are there for its future. I highly recommend that you come on aboard and see what lies in wait for you at the Graystone Manor and Harmony Harbor. You will find something that will have you coming back again and again.

Harmony Harbor series:
Mistletoe Cottager – Harmony Harbor, #1
Christmas with an Angel – Harmony Harbor, #1.5
Starlight Bridge – Harmony Harbor, #2
Promise Land – Harmony Harbor, #3

BlurbHidden in Graystone Manor is a book containing all the dark secrets of Harmony Harbor, and Ava DiRossi is determined to find it. With Griffin back in town, it's more important than ever that she find the book before someone else does. Because her ex is still angry with her for leaving him. And he still has no idea Ava never stopped loving him...

Ava is no longer the vibrant, happy woman Griffin had once loved and married, and he would do anything to bring back the sparkle to her brilliant green eyes. Griffin Gallagher gaped at his ex-wife standing fully clothed under the shower’s icy spray. Beneath a dripping wet gray sweater several sizes too big, her uniform clung to her birdlike frame, an ugly pair of shoes on her feet. Her long, jet-black hair plastered to her head, Ava stared at him through the water streaming down her pale, gaunt face.
Despite the changes to the woman he’d once loved more than life itself, he felt a familiar stirring, a familiar heat low in his belly. He was reacting to her as though nothing had changed. With her gaze riveted on the evidence of his body’s betrayal, embarrassment and anger coursed through him.
“What the hell are you doing in here, Ava?” He shut off the water with such force that he nearly ripped the lever off the wall.
Her impossibly green eyes jerked to his face, reminding him where they’d lingered only seconds before. Swearing under his breath, he covered himself with the shower curtain and then leaned to his right to grab two towels off the rack. He threw her one. She blinked and caught it before it hit her in the face.
Reeling from the realization that he still wanted her, still felt something for her after all this time, he said through clenched teeth, “Get out. Now,” and wrapped the towel around his waist.
“I...I’m sorry. I didn’t expect you so soon. I was…I was just cleaning the tiles.”
Everything about her was foreign to him—the meek, stammering voice; the way she stood with her shoulders bowed; the raw, chapped hands that trembled as she brought the towel to her face. She looked exhausted, and she was lying.
He opened his mouth to ask her what was going on. Then quickly closed it before he uttered the questions that had been eating at him since he saw her at his great-grandmother’s funeral. Are you okay? What happened to you? What can I do to take the shadows from under your eyes? It was no longer his job, no longer his right.
He’d been there before, a long time ago. And all it had gotten him was a broken heart. It’d taken him years to recover. There’d been a time when he didn’t think he ever would. With Ava, he’d never again allow his heart to overrule his head.

NetGalley REVIEW - RELEASE DAY BLITZ - Chain Reaction (Bodyguard, #3) by Tara Wyatt

Chain Reaction
Bodyguard, #3
by Tara Wyatt
Release Date: February 28th 2017
Publisher: Forever
SHE NEEDS A LOVER AND A FIGHTER

From The Book Junkie Reads . . . Chain Reaction (Bodyguard, #3) . . .

Looking for a hero has never been so easy. Alexa has been friends with the best protection money could buy for years. Zack has been there for her through a lot. He can provide Alexa the security she needs both professionally and personally. Alexa and Zack both are in for a ride they never expected and it has nothing to do with the threat against her life, her safety, or her security. This one comes more in the form of an intense chemistry.

My first read from Wyatt and I felt combustion coming off the pages. The plot rich and intense. The character had depth and richness. The chemistry between Zack and Alexa was there and hard to understand why it took so long for them to give in. Chain Reaction set events in motion that put you on a ride that was action filled, intense, raw, and suspenseful. This was most certainly and intense romantic suspense that you will remember.

Bodyguard series:
Necessary Risk – Bodyguard, #1
Primal Instinct – Bodyguard, #2
Chain Reaction – Bodyguard, #3

She leaned her back against the door and shut her eyes, her face ghostly white. Her hands shook as she adjusted the strap of her purse on her shoulder.
Frowning, Zack shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans and headed toward her. She smiled weakly when she saw him, her lips twitching up for a second, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes. Her fingers curled around the strap of her purse, her knuckles going the same shade of white as her face. Something hot and protective tightened his chest, and for a crazy second, he wanted to reach out and pull her into his arms, to promise her that, whatever it was, she’d be okay.
Instead he stopped a few feet in front of her, his hands still in his pockets. “Alexa? You okay?”
Her eyes met his, and she sucked in a shaky breath. “I...Oh God.” She pressed her hands to her face and let out a soft sob, her shoulders trembling.
Zack yanked his hands from his pockets and pulled Alexa into his arms, cradling her against his chest. She felt so tiny, so vulnerable. She barely reached his shoulder despite the fact that she had heels on.
“What happened? Did someone hurt you?” he whispered into her light-blond hair, so fine and soft under his fingers as he stroked the back of her head. So help him God, if someone had hurt her, he would make them bleed.
She pulled back, just enough to look up at him, and he noticed the mascara smudged under her eye. He left his arms around her. It would’ve felt wrong to take them away.
She shook her head slowly, her bottom lip caught between her teeth. “I...don’t think...I can’t.”
“Do you want to go outside? Get some fresh air?” Maybe if she calmed down a little, she’d be able to tell him what the hell had her so...It was more than upset.
The poor girl was fucking spooked.
She hesitated a second before nodding. Without a word he tucked her under his arm, shielding her from the view of the other party guests. He led her down a hallway off the foyer and into the garage, where a side door led into the quiet, dark backyard. The noise from the party filtered out through the open windows, mingling with the soft gurgle of water from the pool. A cool spring breeze rustled the palm fronds and teased Alexa’s shoulder-length hair around her jaw. She brushed it aside as he led her to a stone bench off to the right, their backs to the house.
For several moments they just sat, Alexa sniffling and staring blankly at the still water of the pool. Zack stroked a hand up and down her back, hoping to comfort her in some way. He’d spent the past year as a bodyguard honing his protective instincts, and they now came to life, alarm bells ringing through his skull. Something was very, very wrong.
When she finally spoke, she surprised him with her question. “Who’s the party for? Sierra was cagey about it on the phone earlier.”
Zack glanced back at the house. “Oh. Uh, for Taylor and Colt. They got married in Vegas last weekend.”
Alexa’s head whipped around. “What? But didn’t they just get together?”
“Yeah.”
“They’re crazy.” She shook her head, but he could hear the smile in her voice.
“That’s what I said.”
Gently, she laid a hand on his arm, the tips of her fingers warm against his skin. “Are you okay?”
Fuck, she was so sweet. He was supposed to be comforting her and finding out why she’d suddenly burst into tears, and she was worried about him because his ex-girlfriend had eloped.
He laid a hand over hers, allowing himself the luxury of tracing his thumb over her delicate knuckles. “I’m fine. Just surprised, like everyone, I think. You gonna tell me what’s wrong?”
She sighed heavily. “I don’t even know where to start.” “Beginning’s usually a good place.”
She scoffed out a laugh. “That would take too long.”
He turned to face her. “Did someone hurt you? What happened, Alexa?”A tremble coursed through her, and he wished he were wearing more than a T-shirt and jeans so that he had a jacket or a sweater to offer her. But he didnt, so instead he pulled her close and tucked her against him. “Please tell me. I want to help.”
She swallowed thickly and looked up at him, meeting his gaze. “I...I think my dad’s a murderer and that I might be in a lot of trouble.”

NetGalley REVIEW - Run to You (Risking It All #1) by Rachel Lacey

Run to You
Risking It All #1
by Rachel Lacey
Publication Date: August 30th 2016
Published by: Forever
Genre: Contemporary Romance

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Run to You (Risking It All, #1) . . .
Run to you would most certainly be my sentiments when I have a nest full of yellow jackets chasing me. I will most certainly run to safety or cover whichever comes first. Just running in your direction was not suppose to lead to chemistry lessons. But trouble will be sure to follow in the wakes of this explosive encounter.

Gabby needs to get away from it all. So of course go to a small town where everyone knows everyone and you have very little chance of getting away from the one crashing encounter you made since you arrived in town. In comes the tall, hot glass of TROUBLE, Ethan. There are some things that have Gabby and Ethan back in each other company.  A trouble past for each leads to traveling the smoother road. With family, friends, and just the small town atmosphere surrounding them, they seem to be in each other company more often then not. The relationship grows out of more necessity than deep feeling or so they thought.

The past has a way of finding you when you don't want it. In walks Gabby's past and all that she left behind. But of course this is a sweet, country romance that has to have a little spice and kick to get it all off track. There are a few laughs along the way and a few energizing encounters.  Welcome to Haven, NC.

ONE LITTLE LIE. A WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE.
Moments after meeting the most gorgeous guy ever, Gabby Winters promptly gets stung by a zillion yellow jackets and falls-not gracefully-into a stream. Yup, Ethan Hunter is trouble with a capital "hot," and Gabby definitely needs to keep her distance. Except in the small town of Haven, there's nowhere to hide from Ethan's sexy, infectious grin . . . and all the residents are conspiring against her.

At the center of the town's matchmaking is Ethan's grandmother, who's convinced their relationship is a done deal. Rather than break her heart, Gabby and Ethan find themselves cornered into pretending to be falling in love. The problem: there's serious sizzling attraction between them. And if this charade continues, they won't fool just the entire town - they might fool themselves too . . .
