From The Book Junkie Reads . . . Blood Freed (Blood Ravagers, #2) . . .

Here we are back in the world of MC and paranormal but this time we are visiting with two different but compatible characters, Dex and Liz. I was excited to see more of this world. I felt a bit more connected to them since reading book one of this series. I was more in tuned with the continued sub-plot from book one. I did appreciate seeing more of various characters from the first book. With this one it was not so much about the new characters, really not new, but their journey.  I look forward to the next book of the series. I am making a connection to this world of bikers, shifters, psychics, and more.

Blood Ravager series:
Blood Bound – Blood Ravagers, #1
Blood Freed – Blood Ravagers, #2
Blood Vow – Blood Ravagers, #3    coming soon

BLURB
Elizabeth "Liz" Frost has always been the wild one. But now, with a niece or nephew on the way and her promise to become half of the new psychic Oracle team for the Blood Ravagers Biker Gang, she's ready to turn over a new leaf. And what better way to start than by answering the call when gang leader Dante needs help? Her mission: to travel cross-country to get the information the gang needs to complete the Oracle Binding Ceremony. Should be easy, right? Except for the incredibly tempting lone-wolf shifter named Dex who'll be her riding partner and protector on the journey.

Dexter "Dex" MacCallahan is tasked with guarding Liz Frost, one of the gang's beautiful and bewildering new psychics. Dex can't refuse the mission, but there's one small problem. The time of his Rut is approaching, a rare occurrence where male wolf-shifters must physically bond with their chosen mate or face certain insanity and death. It could cost him not only the new life he's built, but also his battered, scarred heart.

Together, Dex and Liz must search for the information they need before his old nemesis and a rival gang annihilates all they hold dear. But when the simmering chemistry between them boils over into searing hot passion, will they risk losing their hearts to save the ones they love?

Liz blinked her eyes open and squinted into the pre-dawn gloom, her hand clutching her tourmaline pendant. There was something incredibly warm pressed to her back. Something warm and…furry. Slowly, she raised her head slightly and peered over the shoulder to see Dex in his wolf form snoozing behind her.
He looked so beautiful, all tawny blonde with streaks of darker gold and rich chestnut brown. In slumber, his muzzle was open slightly and his darker lashes fanned out over his cheeks, matching the color of his whiskers. Despite the huge king-sized bed, somehow he’d ended up on her side and snuggle cozily against her lower back. A pang of sweetness ached in her chest.
The temptation to touch him was just too great. She turned slightly and stroked her fingers lightly over the soft fur between his ears. That’s when she noticed the scar. He’d said he didn’t have any physical ones, but he’d lied. This one stretched along his right temple up to the edge of his pointed ear, raised and hairless. Unable to stop herself, Liz traced her fingertip over it and Dex whined in his sleep.
He’d said at dinner the Council had coerced and corrupted his father, convinced him his own pack was out to get him, and that his once noble father had killed them all in cold blood—men, women, children. Liz’s own mother had taken her life, but at least she knew why. She’d been depressed, alone, with no hope for the future. Poor Dex believed himself to be tainted by his father’s actions, haunted by his heritage, lived in fear of repeating them himself.
Liz might not have been hanging around the otherworld long, but based on the Council’s treatment of Dante and now Dex, her dislike deepened into a true hatred.
Beside her the wolf grew more restless, his paws digging into the sheets and his whines growing louder, sharper. Without thought, she placed a hand on his side, hoping to calm him.
With a snarl, Dex sprang to his paws, all wicked fangs and sharp claws. His piercing violet eyes stared into hers for a moment, and Liz’s pulse stumbled at the raw power and need lurking in their depths. Not fully wolf, not quite human either.
After a few tense moments, he reared up on his haunches and light shimmered around the edges of his coat. The transformation started from the top down, first his head morphed back into the Dex she knew, followed by the rest of his body until the man sat before her once more.
A very handsome, very naked man.
Fingers shaking, Liz reached toward him. “Are you okay?”
“Don’t touch me!” Fast as a predator pouncing on prey, he took her wrist and rolled her beneath his body, trapping her against the mattress. His eyes were open, but unfocused. “I’ll fucking kill you if you touch me again!”
Panic surged within her at his lethal tone, but she did her best to soothe him. “Dex, it’s me. Liz. We’re safe. You’re safe.” He squeezed her wrist tight and she cried out in pain before she could stop herself. “Dex! Please. You’re hurting me.”
He blinked down at her and for a moment, she glimpsed the wolf behind the man once more—gorgeous, wild, completely ruthless. His chest heaved and his violet eyes narrowed and all she could think was she’d finally gone too far, like everyone always warned.
She was a dead woman.
Then, slowly, Dex’s expression softened and his gaze cleared. His tense muscles relaxed and he lowered himself on top of her, all his muscles and sinews pressed into her soft curves. A familiar hardness pressed against her lower abdomen and his warm breath ghosted across her cheek. Despite the circumstances, moisture gathered between her legs as a fresh wave of desire crashed over her.
“You shouldn’t have touched me.” His voice had gone all deep and growly from sleep. “I could’ve hurt you.”
Liz winced and pulled free from his grasp. “You did hurt me.”
Regret and pain flickered across his face. He reached for her wrist once more and gently brought it to his lips, kissing the delicate skin over her thudding pulse point. “I’m sorry. I never, ever meant to hurt you.”
“I know.” Without thought, Liz parted her legs, allowing Dex to slide between them, placing his hard cock right over where she needed him most. Only the thin flannel of her silly bunny PJs separated them. She somehow managed not to arch against him, in spite of her desperation. He was still very much opposed to having sex with her again and she didn’t want to scare him away.
As if in a trance, Dex kissed his way upward from her wrist to her inner elbow, then her bicep, then her shoulder. His eyes were closed and he seemed to be lost in his own fantasy. At that moment, Liz didn’t care what he was thinking about as long as he kept touching her.
With his other hand, he stroked her side, from hip to breast, over her pink tank top, his rough fingertips feather-light. She inhaled deep and closed her eyes, reveling in his practiced touch. Once his lips reached her neck, Dex nipped her slightly, then said against her skin, “Tell me why you have not life mated.”
So much for thinking he was lost in la-la land.
Liz stiffened. “What?”
Dex lifted his head and stared down at her. “You’re young, beautiful, smart. Why haven’t you committed to someone? Are you scared?”
“No!” She tried to buck him off, to no avail. “I’m not scared.”
“Then why are you alone?”
“Because I want to be, okay?” She looked away from his too perceptive gaze. “Welcome to the twenty-first century. Women can do just fine on their own, thanks so much.”
“But you’re lonely.” He nuzzled the sensitive spot below her ear, and damn if she didn’t have to bite back a groan. For a guy who demanded a hands-off relationship, he sure as hell was copping a feel. He cupped one of her breasts and his thumb flicked her rock hard nipple. This time there was no holding back the moan.
Dex froze. “Sorry.”
Liz glanced sideways at him. He looked like a lot of things—horny, hot as hell, wanton and willing—but sorry wasn’t one of them. “For what?”
He started to move off her, but she locked her ankles around his lower back and kept him right where he was.
“We’re in the middle of something here.” Her words emerged softer than she wanted, but with her pulse thudding hard between her legs and his cock pressed tight against her, honestly it was a wonder she could speak at all. “I’ll answer your questions if you answer mine. Deal?”
Leaning up on his elbows, Dex looked yummy enough to eat. The wolf tattoo on his right arm looked suspiciously familiar—same violet eyes, same shaggy blond fur, same quizzical expression.
“It that you?” she asked.
“Yes.” He sighed then ducked his head to lick the pulse point at the base of her throat.
“You realize you’re touching me again?”
“Yes.” His kisses trailed down the center of her chest to the valley between her breasts.
“And you realize where this could lead?”
“Yes.” His tongue grazed the edge of the fabric of her tank top and she shivered.
“And you’re okay with that?”
“No.” He pushed the neckline down with his jaw and took one of her nipples into his warm, wet mouth, sucking gently before pulling away again. “But I can’t seem to stop myself.”
